I come to find a few teens (usually male) who don’t really seem to care much about whats going on in their faith (and often times even just their whole life in general)
How can I engage these teens to CARE about their faith lives?
Well, that’s the $64,000 question! The one everyone is trying to figure out. I have some success but unfortunately, not complete.
The best way to get them interested, and the first step, is to care about them. Care about who they are and what they’re interested in. Listen to them and be a good sounding board for them. That’s how you get them to care about what you say. Then, you have to be interesting and relevant. Talk about the faith in a way that applies to their lives and helps them to solve problems. Those are the best ways to break in and get them to care.
My friend Roy Petitfils has really great comments on this topic as well. He’s done a lot of youth ministry and counseling. You can find him at http://www.roypetitfils.com.
