Michael Marchand: Catholic Student Ministry Podcast

Catechesis

catholic-student-ministry-logoI’m not a youth minister. Just wanted to establish that out right up front.

I understand what to do…in theory. I just don’t quite know how to make it happen.

When I was struggling with doing youth ministry at my parish, I searched for a Catholic resource that would tell me how to do the basics.

I didn’t find much.

There were a lot of protestant resources, but nothing on the Catholic side.

So I was really excited when I listened to my friend Michael Marchand’s new project, the Catholic Student Ministry Podcast.

This is the Catholic youth ministry resource I needed but couldn’t find. It’s excellent!

Michael packed this episode with some insanely useful content. It was about how to get students to church for sessions. And, they were all drawn from the Bible! You know I love that.

Michael has 10 years of experience as a youth minister. For the first six years, he spent a lot of time searching for new ways of doing things…the magic bullet of ministry models that would effectively reach his students.

But then he realized that, instead of searching for modern methods, he should be diving into Scripture to find biblical principles to apply to his modern ministry. That’s what he does each week on this podcast.

His ideas were awesome! I found myself taking notes for ideas to  get new people into my RCIA classes. It was that good.

So, if you’re looking for a great youth ministry (Michael prefers the term student ministry) resource that will teach you how to do ministry from a solid, biblical perspective, check out the Catholic Student Ministry Podcast. You won’t be disappointed.

Next week’s podcast: “Principles of Godly Leadership.” It drops on Monday.

You can download it through the link on Michael’s website or just listen online.

As always, I love your comments! I’m wondering what your favorite part of the podcast? Let me know in the comments.

    1. I remember you liked them and used them for a confirmation program. I used their resource on the Mass translation last year. It was alright but it didn’t floor me. Maybe that wasn’t the best representation of their work. Great to hear from you!
