Are you an amazing catechist?
Do you want to be one?
Of course you do–or you wouldn’t be here. đ
Then you should be reading Lisa Mladinich’s catechetical column at Patheos–Be An Amazing Catechist!
You might recognize the column title. That’s because there’s also an amazing booklet by the same name that Lisa wrote for Our Sunday Visitor.
Lisa is also the founder of amazingcatechists.com, a group blog dedicated totally to catechesis (of which I am a regular contributor).
Why you should read Lisa’s column
I seriously enjoy Lisa’s Patheos column. Her writing is so wonderfully simple and inviting.
She makes catechesis very accessible to the beginner and/or average catechist. Her approach is unassuming and encouraging because she’s honest about her struggles as well.
I think catechists without a lot of experience will read her column and think, “Yeah, I can do this!”
Your catechesis benefits you as much as your students!
Lisa makes catechesis attractive! She talks about the great benefits you get from being a catechist and from learning more about the Faith. That’s what attracted me to her work in the first place and I still think it’s a very important message.
People are often intimidated by catechesis but it’s so beautiful and so rewarding. There’s a satisfaction and joy that comes from learning more about Catholicism and delivering it to others.
It’s a great experience seeing someone’s face light up when they understand these great truths in a deeper way. You really are helping people have more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Lisa has a great way of disarming the fears and making you excited to try harder and become better.
So check out Lisa’s column and subscribe to it while you’re at it! You won’t be disappointed.Â
Great shout out – I completely agree!
Thanks William! I liked your post too!
