The new Amazing Catechists website is LIVE!
Thanks to a lot of hard work from web designer Dorian Speed of Convolare Design and site owner Lisa Mladinich last night, the site is now up and running. I helped too. 😉
There’s still a few kinks to iron out. The latest columns aren’t showing up because old posts were transferred over from the old site all at once. There was some creative shuffling with dates and such to make it work. But–they are there!
And, because I transferred a lot of Alex Basile’s posts over, the one that shows on the front page under my name isn’t my post. 🙁 But Dorian will fix that soon.
What IS great about the new site is it includes RSS and email subscriptions–you can subscribe to the site feed or to individual authors feeds. Very nice!
It also includes social follow buttons for the Amazing Catechists Facebook page and Twitter account, as well as social sharing buttons for liking and tweeting individual posts. Hint, hint.
And, the best part is the new site is built on the Genesis WordPress Framework so SEO will be crazy good. Genesis has some of the cleanest code around–almost as good as Standard Theme (another hint). So, our Amazing Catechist posts will start showing up in search results on Google, something that wasn’t happening at all with the other site.
All in all I’m very happy with the new site and the possibilities it will bring. It’s a great leap forward for Lisa and the whole Amazing Catechists team. There’s also a partnership with Catechetics Online in the works to provide user forum support.
It’s also a great advance for the New Evangelization. The new site will greatly improve our efforts to bring the truth of the Catholic Faith and better teaching methods to catechists across the country through the internet and social media.
Please pray for our efforts and for the success of the site. I know the Holy Spirit is blessing us with this new site.
And, please subscribe and follow us on Facebook! Lisa is planning some Advent book giveaways that you won’t want to miss.
Thanks, Marc, I really appreciate the shout-out and the late-night post-copying assistance! And I think I’ve Alex-ized all of those columns you copied over. We couldn’t have done it without you. 🙂
Thank you Dorian! You put a lot of hard work into that one and I think it’s going to pay off.
Yeah, I couldn’t *not* help you knowing how much work you were putting in and how crunched you were for time. I wish I could have done more. It was so little. But still, I guess that was one less hour you had to put in. I was totally falling asleep while I was doing it though. I had to keep going back and checking my work to make sure I didn’t make any dumb mistakes.
OH – but I just noticed your backhanded Genesis compliment, ha ha. Just kidding; I think Tentblogger is amazing and I’m sure Standard theme is great to work with. Love me some StudioPress, though.
Ha ha! Wondering if you noticed that. 😉
Seriously though, Genesis is one of the best out there and I’m so happy you used that theme and framework for the new site. I greatly, greatly approve.
Hooray!!
Thanks Julie!
