I got an amazing education from Franciscan University of Steubenville.<\/p>\n

Yet I\u00a0missed out one of the best educational opportunities they provided.<\/p>\n

The Faith + Reason website is a new online initiative from Franciscan University of Steubenville that makes great Catholic presentations given at the university available to the public.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It’s\u00a0the stories that you tell…<\/h2>\n

There were a lot of great things about\u00a0being a student at Franciscan.
\n<\/p>\n

One of the best was all the\u00a0fantastic Catholic speakers that came to visit. Every week there was someone new.<\/p>\n

I’m talking big names. Some of\u00a0the best speakers\u00a0around.\u00a0Sometimes they were there for\u00a0symposiums. Other times they were just passing through.\u00a0And then, there were\u00a0the summer conferences.<\/p>\n

In case you didn’t know, Franciscan University puts on conferences\u2026big conferences\u2026all summer long. And they have some awesome speakers.<\/p>\n

The Saturday night general sessions were always open to the students and it was amazing to drop in and see Dr. Scott Hahn, Fr. Benedict Groeshel, Fr. Stan Fortuna, Ralph Martin, or George Wiegel.\u00a0One time I even met Fr. Groeschel walking the campus and he gave my wife a blessing when she was pregnant\u00a0with our first child.<\/p>\n

How I missed out<\/h2>\n

However, I was kind of a nervous student at Franciscan. I always studied way more than I\u00a0needed to. I\u00a0think it was\u00a0the Navy that did that to me.<\/p>\n

It was very good for grades, but unfortunately, I missed out on a lot of great presentations.<\/p>\n

My wife always tells everyone how she got to see Alice Von Hildebrand, even though she wasn’t a student, and I didn’t\u00a0because\u00a0I was too busy studying. Sigh.<\/p>\n

The Faith + Reason website<\/h2>\n

Well now all those great presentations are available to everyone…even poor,\u00a0beleaguered\u00a0students (like me) that study way more than they have to.<\/p>\n

Franciscan University just launched a new website called Faith + Reason<\/a>. It has\u00a0videos and articles from Catholic speakers that visit the campus. And, some awesome speakers that are always there as professors.<\/p>\n

Right now there are videos there from Scott Hahn (of course), \u00a0John Bergsma, Jeff Cavins, Peter Kreeft, and Fr. Andrew Apostoli. There’s also articles and commentaries on the Sunday readings.<\/p>\n

Faith that’s reasonable<\/h2>\n

I\u00a0think this\u00a0could be a\u00a0great tool for enriching catechists formation. Having access to great Catholic thought from some of the best minds\u00a0around will definitely increase their faith and give them greater insight into what they teach.<\/p>\n

Even more so, it\u00a0could be a great resource for those considering, or re-considering, the Catholic Faith–a place where they can be exposed to the best teaching the Catholic Church has to offer.<\/p>\n

St. Augustine didn’t convert until he found someone who could make\u00a0Christian faith reasonable. \u00a0Someone who could talk about it eloquently.\u00a0Until he heard St. Ambrose, Christianity was just a crude, underdeveloped philosophy to him.<\/p>\n

Years ago, I saw a comment on one of Fr. Barron’s You Tube videos that\u00a0really struck me. The commenter\u00a0couldn’t\u00a0believe they’d heard their favorite French philosopher mentioned on You Tube…and it was by a Catholic priest!<\/p>\n

Hearing real, faithful, and reasoned teaching on the Catholicism is one of the best ways\u00a0to draw people to the Faith. Catholicism is so misunderstood. Sometimes it takes hearing the best speakers to open someone’s eyes to it’s beauty and wonder.<\/p>\n

The Faith + Reason website will be a fantastic tool for the New Evangelization<\/a>. Point someone to it today at\u00a0www.faithandreason.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
