How many priests do you know well enough to ask advice? 5? 10? 100???<\/p>\n

One of the awesome things about the internet is access.<\/p>\n

Access to information, talent, resources, and\u00a0people.<\/p>\n

Once upon a time, if you wanted to interact with a priest, you were limited by your geographical region. Had a question burning in your brain? Want to bend their ear a bit? If they weren’t knowledgeable or didn’t have time for you, it was hard luck.<\/p>\n

The internet is changing all that.<\/p>\n

I ran across this post, 100 Totally Awesome Blogs by Catholic Priests<\/a>, compiled by Joseph Adkins of the Catholic Dating Sites blog. He got together links to 100 blogs written by Catholic priests. I really did not know there were 100 blogging priests out there.<\/p>\n

I don’t know how good all these blogs are…but don’t you\u00a0think it’s cool that there’s 100 priests who blog?<\/p>\n

I can’t vouch for all the sites, but I have run across many of these priests on social media. Here’s some I know. The text below is reproduced from\u00a0the post (although,\u00a0I do add a few comments of my own here and there indicated by italics<\/em>):
\n<\/p>\n

A Beggar for Love<\/a>: this blog records Fr. Daren Zehnie\u2019s favorite passages from the words and writings of Pope Benedict XVI. Fr. Zehnie is a priest in\u00a0the neighboring Springfield diocese. I met him at their diocesan catechetical conference last year. He’s a good friend of my friend Jonathan Sullivan. Servant and Steward<\/a>: Fr. Daren Zehnie\u2019s also has this one. It’s his personal blog.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bishop Daniel Jenky<\/a>: serving as Bishop of Peoria since 2012, Most Rev. Daniel R Jenky writes about serving the community, the Holy Spirit, and other insights on the Church. This is my bishop so I have to say great things about him. But seriously, he really is so awesome and so pastoral.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Blessed the Kingdom<\/a>: this blog provides readers and visitors with an online discussion and exploration of the Christian faith, facilitated by a priest and pilgrim. Fr. Christian Mathis is a friend on Twitter and very pastoral.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Called By Name<\/a>: Fr. Kyle Schnippel believes that there is a tide of vocations to the priesthood and religious life waiting to happen. The blog explores his life as a priest and the journey to becoming a priest. Fr. Kyle is one of the popular priests to follow in Twitter.\u00a0He’s very good at creating engagement by posting questions or getting hashtag parties going.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Cardinal Roger Mahony Blogs LA<\/a>: the official blog of the Archbishop Emeritus of Los Angeles, Cardinal Mahony discusses his personal views on immigration, prayer, and reactions to events in the news. Cardinal Mahony put his foot in his mouth a few times on this blog with less than charitable remarks. It\u00a0could be entertaining at\u00a0the least.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Cardinal Sean\u2019s Blog<\/a>: the blog of Archbishop of Boston Cardinal Sean O\u2019Malley, it features numerous journal entries describing the Boston Bombing and a trip to the Holy Land.\u00a0Of course, Cardinal Sean is one of the powerhouse bishops in the American Church today, and has done many amazing things\u00a0with new media in his diocese. He’s really a pioneer.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Fr. Z\u2019s Blog<\/a>: this blog provides commentary on Catholic issues, liturgical translations, and news.\u00a0 Same sex marriage is also discussed.\u00a0Needless to say, Fr. Z is the most popular priest on the internet. He’s a bit controversial and has a huge following, but he can be harsh sometimes in railing\u00a0against liberals.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
